Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is Africa’s first trans-border conservation area. It was established in 2000 by African President. This place is located 250 km from Upington in the far Northern Cape. Do Tripety travelers enjoy traveling so far?

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a protected area in the southern Kalahari Desert. Can you believe that it has such an ecosystem that is free from human interference?

The most important attraction of this park is predators. They live here in the wild, and their kinds are totally protected and nature helps them feel comfortable and to increase their types and kinds.

  • The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park was formally established on 12th May 2000.
  • The Park can be accessed from three countries – South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia.
  • The Pygmy Falcons, which are one of the attractions in the Park, are considered to be the smallest falcons found in Africa.
  • The gemsbok antelope is the emblem of the Park.

There are 3 main camps on the territory of Kgalagadi Park. This is  “Twee Rivieren” with excellent living conditions, swimming pools, and other amenities. There are 2 main routes that start through the park, along the bed of the dry rivers Nosob and Auob to the remote camps of Mata Mata and Nossob. There are water wells along the channel. Wild animals gather in the morning and evening hours, providing tourists with an excellent opportunity to take unforgettable pictures. There are such activities available in the Park:

  • Morning and evening walk in 20-seater vans to watch animals;
  • 5.5-hour day trips;
  • Morning “safari”;
  • “4×4” safari that is 300 km long. It lasts for 4 days and 3 nights.
