Traveling to China, especially during the pandemic, is not easy. However, it’s an adventure worth taking because you haven’t truly seen the world until you’ve been to China. It is home to a rich, unique culture and some of the most hardworking and welcoming people globally.

If you want to take a trip to China, here are a few things that you must keep in mind to plan the perfect, hassle-free trip.

Passport and Visa Requirements

When applying for your visa to China, you must ensure that your passport has at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. In addition to this, you must also get your other documents in order. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Photographs (48 mm length and 33 mm width against white background)
  • Letter of Invitation
  • Proof of State Residency
  • Visa Application Form
  • Travel Letter
  • Health Declaration

Choosing the Destination

China is a huge country with different kinds of cities and towns all across it. You must choose your destinations and plan your itinerary before you arrive. Here’s how you can pick the perfect places:

  • Consider the quarantine period.
  • Learn about life in these areas.
  • Get acquainted with their local laws and customs beforehand.
  • If you’re looking for leisure, do your homework beforehand. Check if the tourist spots are open to the public.

COVID-19 Restrictions

Here are some important COVID-19 restrictions that you should be aware of before traveling to China:

  • You must be vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines or a Chinese vaccine at least 15 days before your trip.
  • As of now, China is primarily open for business travel and humanitarian reasons.
  • Negative PCR and Antibody Test taken 48 hours before travel.
  • Some regions in China have 14 day quarantine periods, some have 21 days.

Money and other Items

Chinese Yuan (CNY) is the official currency of China. You can take up to 5,000 USD or 20,000 CNY when traveling to China. Any amount exceeding this must be declared to the Chinese customs department to avoid problems.

Additionally, any antiques that you carry in or out of the country must be accompanied by a letter of authentication and sale receipt.
